Visual Web Parts–SharePoint 2010 vs. 2013

Visual Web Parts are a quite simpler in SharePoint 2013 than they were in SharePoint 2010.

In SharePoint 2013, Visual Web Parts don’t contain 2 classes, for the Web Part and the User Control like in SharePoint 2010, what made some solutions a little bit tricky like web part connections as described in my other post connecting to Visual Web Parts.

In SharePoint 2013, Visual Web Parts contain only 1 class which is derived from Web Part but also used as class for the user control!

Further to this Visual Web Parts can now be packed in sandboxed solutions, not only farm solutions like in SharePoint 2010!
